OLP: A Framework for Cooperation

Onondaga Lake has great potential to enhance the quality of life in Central New York. Revitalization of the Lake and its watershed poses complex challenges and opportunities.
OLP provides a framework for government agencies to cooperate as they restore and conserve water quality, natural resources, and recreational uses of the Lake to the benefit of the public. OLP also fosters the participation of special interest groups, businesses, and educational institutions from the community. OLP follows the Onondaga Lake Management Plan and the Amended Consent Judgment (ACJ).
The work of OLP is conducted by its Executive, Project, Outreach, and Resource committees. The committees include representatives of the government agencies responsible for Lake revitalization and representatives of the community including special interest groups, businesses, and educational institutions.
Executive Committee
Comprised of representatives of each of the senior partners and chaired by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this committee manages the Onondaga Lake Partnership. Members establish and maintain the mission of OLP and the Lake improvement effort, setting goals, assessing performance, and reporting progress.

Project Committee
Serves as the partnership's technical expertise on specific projects. Members provide input for a comprehensive project database and schedule for the entire Lake improvement effort, monitoring project progress, and providing data for status reports.
Outreach Committee
Works to enhance public knowledge and understanding of OLP and the status of the Lake improvement effort. Members pursue opportunities for public participation and education and provide a single point of contact for the public to address Lake improvement desires and issues.
Resource Subcommittee
Develops and maintains OLP funding strategy for projects, tracks existing funding, and identifies and recommends potential funding sources for projects.
